Smith & Fong Introduces Plyboo Ceilings
The use of Smith & Fong panels in ceiling applications is nothing new, and for the past decade or more, innovative interior designers and architects have come up with their own ideas of how to use Plyboo and Durapalm panel products for decorative ceiling applications. We have taken notice of this all-too-often overlooked decorative surface, and this summer we launched Plyboo Ceilings with a wide range of textures with design and function.
Using the same product technology featured in our Reveal, Linear, and Sound Collections, we showed the new systems at Dwell on Design in Los Angeles this past June. The response was immediate and positive and we feel we have a winner. The complete Plyboo Ceiling systems are now available nationally and in panel sizes up to 48” x 120”. All our systems work with standard ceiling grids or can be customized for specific design applications.
Ceilings are often forgotten surfaces that are relegated to the same acoustical drop-ceiling products that have been around for decades. But a ceiling provides a large canvas for design inspiration and Plyboo Ceilings gives the designer a fresh new palette from which to work. In the event that an interior environment requires technical sound-dampening or noise mitigation, the Sound and Linear Sound panel systems deliver acoustical performance while providing a modern design aesthetic.
Plyboo Ceiling panels, such as those pictured here from a private residence on Moss Street in San Francisco are made from 100-percent FSC®-Certified and pass VOC emissions standards ULEF (ultra-low emitting formaldehyde), which are more stringent than CARB II standards. Ceiling panels are fabricated in both ¾” and ½” thicknesses and can meet a Class B fire rating.
