Smith & Fong establishes sales and marketing operations in Bangalore, India
This summer Smith & Fong began one of the largest operational initiatives in our 27-year history: we established offshore offices with sales and marketing in Bangalore, India.
The appeal of doing business in India should come as no surprise to anyone in the architecture/design industry; the country has a rich history in design, both traditional and modern. What we hope to bring is heightened awareness of sustainable and environmentally healthy materials, especially those that promote improved indoor air quality—a Smith & Fong cornerstone attribute since day one.
For the Indian design market we’re offering our Reveal, PlybooSound and Linear Line Collections in bamboo. The Reveal Collection represents panels that are richly carved and textured and the PlybooSound Collection offers aesthetics along with noise reduction components. The Linear Line Collection offers patterns from contemporary architectural lines to looks that resemble a multi-colored, hand-woven textile.
Additionally, we will have our palm collection, under the Durapalm brand, which includes PalmWoven, a traditional woven motif and DecoPalm, a contemporary blocked, linear pattern with flat panel looks that express the rich warmth and beauty of the natural material.
Between the two lines, this is a broad palette to choose from, and we’re excited to see how India’s rich design history embraces these materials and textures and makes them her own.
