Our warranty applies on projects using Warmboard radiant heat.
As bamboo and palm are both indigenous to warm locales throughout the world, both materials are highly adaptable to changes in temperature, significant warmth and varying levels of humidity. That’s why our warranties apply – for both Plyboo and Durapalm – when used in conjunction with Aptos, California-based Warmboard radiant heat systems, a very energy-efficient way to heat a home or office.
Our Warranty Applies – is noteworthy, as many hardwood and bamboo flooring manufacturers still will not honor their warranties when used with radiant floor heating systems. We have studied the Warmboard system and have spoken with the company’s technical team on multiple occasions. They have a great product that is well supported and we love working with them. Our flooring products, whether Stiletto, standard bamboo or palm flooring, naturally expand and contract with variations in relative humidity, and are not adversely affected by a radiant floor heating system like Warmboard. The flooring installation world has taken note, as evidenced by this recent coverage in Hardwood Floors and Green Builder magazines.
“Warmboard has been manufacturing radiant floor heating panels for more than 15 years,” Warmboard technical services manager Paul Izenstark said. “Bundling Plyboo flooring with our Warmboard system is a great fit because Smith & Fong understands the radiant system and how it interacts with a bio-based flooring product.”
A little background on Warmboard: the technology was invented in 1992 by architect and entrepreneur Terry Alsberg, who first became familiar with radiant heat when several of his clients began asking for it to be incorporated into their residential projects. Motivated in part by having two children with asthma, and unsatisfied with existing radiant options, Terry, using his background in architecture and engineering physics, worked out of his garage in Capitola, California to invent Warmboard-S. He filed a patent on the technology in 1994 and licensed that patent to Jeld-Wen in 1996. Warmboard Inc. was spun out as an independent entity in 2002 with Terry as CEO.
We’re excited to bundle our flooring products with this industry-leading radiant heat system innovator.
